CORRUPTION: Court pronounces interim forfeiture of $40m worth of jewellery, gold iPhone of Diezani
A Federal High Court Sitting in Lagos has pronounced an interim forfeiture on some jewellery belonging to Former Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Allison Madueke.
The forfeited jewelleries and gold iPhone which were found in the possession of the former petroleum minister, were recovered by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and as the TOWN CRIER had gathered, valued at about forty million US dollars.
The pronouncement was made by Justice Nicholas Oweibol, in upholding a motion exparte application filed by the EFCC Prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo.
In his application, Rotimi Oyedepo claimed that the gold iPhone and the expensive jewelries which include wristwatches, necklaces, bracelets, bangles, earrings were reasonably suspected to have been acquired with proceeds of unlawful dealings of Mrs. Diezani Allison Madueke.
